1--The 2012 MLFAD will begin next Monday morning and I am getting a lot of questions on this. The biggest question I keep getting asked is "who is available in this draft?"
This is the answer I gave:
"WHO" is available is a closely guarded secret because the research is entirely up to the owner, unlike the FYPD where you know everyone in the talent pool and have good estimate on how they are ranked.
But as far as who is available in this draft, it breaks down into these categories:
--young international guys who were signed after July 2nd last year
--guys who were not drafted in our 2011 FYPD
--guys who were undrafted in the real MLB FYPD, but later signed by MLB teams
--guys who were under the radar or blossomed in the last year, not currently on a Perfect Game roster
--big name international guys who may be from Cuba or Japan
All of the guys have to be below the 50 innings pitched or 130 at-bat rookie threshold.
So if that doesn't clarify it for you, please ask me any questions prior to draft or prior to trading away your picks.
2--I have finally got around to adding all the draft picks from the 2011 FYPD. Look over your team and make sure you have all your players. It is really easy for me to make a mistake when I am adding the ghost players.
3--Please be aware that the 250 player limit is in full effect. If you have 244 players on your roster, then you can only make 6 picks without dropping someone. There are no exceptions to this rule.
4--Back to the MLFAD. A player has to be signed before the start of the MLFAD to be eligible to be picked. Right now, Jorge Soler and Jairo Beras are clearly not signed, so unless something changes in the next few days, they will not be eligible. These are the only 2 players I plan to exclude from the draft who may have "cloudy" contract situations.
5--And that leads me to my last point. In the MLFAD, teams will be picking lots of 16 year old kids who may be lying about names and age. We will be taking a "buyer beware" approach on all the guys picked, and if their contract later becomes voided, so is your pick, unless he signs a new contract prior to the next MLFAD, ie Wagner Mateo.
You guys know I am looking for picks, but I want to help all the new guys as much as possible. Please don't hesitate to ask questions. Blow my inbox up, I don't care. Just don't get frustrated because you don't understand. Let me try to clear things up.
Thanks,
Jeremy
