I was wondering if anyone here may be interested in helping with a new minor league baseball blog. This is the details I was sent by the one trying to get it off the ground. I know him from another league. If you think you may be interested let me know and I'll pass your name along to him.
I had this idea last year, spoke to a couple guys about it, but we didn't do anything in 2016. I'm now planning on launching it this offseason and have some new ideas.
The plan is to have 30 different people, each responsible for one MLB team and their Minor League organization. I'm looking for an initial Top 50 list of prospects for each organization (so yes, this is going to take a little bit of research, hopefully not too much) but it will be your own list - not MLB's, not Baseball America's. You can use all different resources to come up with your list but it will be our blog's Top 50 for each team. Possibly with a one line blurb for each player, but no way do I want a complete player profile. I'd like this first post of your organization's Top 50 prospects to be done sometime in the first half of January.
Then I'd like to target once per month from February through September to have each person post a minor league update for their organization. Each person author privileges to post on the blog/website. The monthly post could be a revised Top 20 in the organization (this will likely come into play after the June MLB Draft and July International signings), some key players and performances from the month, or even a scouting report if you've happened to see any of your players in person. These are just a few ideas. The post doesn't have to be long but I'd like each blogger to do 8 total between February and September and that's the commitment. Only one per month. I will be the Admin/editor and check that everything looks good before each post is published and goes live on the site.
We're looking at 1,500 prospects initially covered/ranked on this site! How amazing is that! I don't know of any other sites out there that can offer that to any reader, fan, guru, diehard, or whatever you want to call it. So that's what I'm leaning towards calling it. Prospects1500. We'll be using Prospects1500.wordpress.com or we might actually register a standalone domain.
Please let me know if you're interested in participating and joining my Prospects1500 team and which team's MiLB farm system you'd like to be in charge of. I currently have 15 of the 30 teams taken so there are still 20 to choose from.
Brian Young and I will be taking the last 2 teams that aren't claimed. I'm keeping track of all participants and contact info on this sheet and you can see which teams I still need coverage for:

This is just for fun and for the love of the game, and minor league prospecting! I cannot pay anyone. What I can and will do is promote the blog site and all of our posts through as many social media channels as possible. I can also post links to our site on many of the Fantasy Baseball forums you see out there. We'll start to get some page views and some of us will be get our name out there in the prospect world if you will. Once we're up and established and have a core base of posts then we'll also be able to request media credentials to minor league parks based on the organization you're covering. There are a lot of possibilities for this project and who knows how much it could take off in the future? But for now it's just in its infancy and I'm starting small with a first goal of just filling all 30 teams.
Thanks, and I'm looking forward to this exciting new project! Hope some of you will come on board and we'll see how it goes.
