"The Gators' rotation is so loaded that their bullpen is full of guys who could start for most Division I clubs but end up throwing gas in one- or two-inning stints, with Maronde the best pro prospect of the group.

Coming from a three-quarters slot, Maronde will sit 92-95 in a relief stint (mostly 94-95 when I saw him) and pitches heavily off the fastball; the pitch has late life but no sink and he'll probably be a fly ball guy long-term. His hard curveball at 79-81 mph has good shape although he doesn't always finish it; when he does it's an above-average pitch that should give left-handed hitters a ton of problems. He has a changeup but rarely if ever uses it in games.

Maronde's arm action is long but very fluid, with visibility to the hitter the only real concern, and he's looking more athletic than he did in high school. We know he can pitch in relief, but he has the size, velocity, and at least one off-speed weapon to move back to the rotation in pro ball."

He doesn’t get the attention that teammates Matt Barnes and George Springer (two projected first rounders) get, but Ahmed put himself on the map this spring after packing some muscle onto his now 6-foot-2, 205 lb. frame over the winter. After hitting just .295/.350/.371 in his first two years at school, he is hitting .322/.422/.450 as a junior."
