Have always wondered why we invert the MLFAD order from best to last (I know the FYPD is opposite)? Most leagues give the worst teams the best picks in all drafts to build them up to be competitive (like real baseball). Fine with how it is but always wondered why?

Have always wondered why we invert the MLFAD order from best to last (I know the FYPD is opposite)? Most leagues give the worst teams the best picks in all drafts to build them up to be competitive (like real baseball). Fine with how it is but always wondered why? This is one answer, not necessarily "the" answer. The MLFAD rewards the teams that "go for it" and make the playoffs. The theory to me is that the team that just won it all should have the deepest pockets, the winning pedigree, and be able to exploit the market because players would want to go there. Obviously this is not exactly how it goes in the MLB (ie, Aroldis Chapman to the Reds) but it seems like the Yankees, Red Sox and a couple other big market teams don't use this to there advantage like they could or should.

I have always liked "rewards" to place well just counter for those outside the playoffs as FYPD is better so it outweighs the higher MLPD pick....but makes sense and good to know
thanks!
