Off-Season free agency bidding will take place over four weeks with players divided into groups by position. Each team owner can make bids on no more than 5 players at any one time. If they are caught to have more than 5 bids, they will be suspended from bidding on that group for one week. A winning bid is a high bid that stands for 24 hours. After winning a bid, an owner has 48 hours to post contract details (length/options). If the owners fails to post, a default one year contract will be given.
When entering off-season free agency, each team can protect 3 players from being lost to free agency by declaring them as “match” players. The players will then be bid on by the other owners. The winning bid will then be able to be matched and the player will stay with its previous team. Only 2 of the 3 players may be matched, but the 3rd player can then be bid on by the previous owner if he has used his 2 matches.
Once a player is won in the matching process the previous owner will have 24 hours to make his matching decision. Once the decision in made, the 48 hour clock for contract details begins.
Bidding: The max opening bid is 1M. The max bid increase is 1M. The minimum bid increase is 100k.
The bidding guidelines were never written into our rules but have been followed for as long as I've been here. It's my fault that this is one area where I did not clarify in written form in the rules when they were cleaned up. This is something we can and should discuss for 2024, but we will go with tradition for now. Sorry for any inconvenience.

updated
I've adjusted several bids that were for more than the max bid. Please check all threads again and don't assume anything about previous bids.
