Since I don't think we will have a new owner by next Monday and it would be overwhelming to a new owner if we did, I think we should "auction off" the picks for this team.
I could make the picks for this team, but they would be second rate, slightly biased picks so I thought we could offer FYPD picks that a new owner could use in August.
If you have any objections to this or any other ideas, please post them here.

This is a hard one as it requires so much digging and research and I am pretty sure none of us really wants to pick for the vacant team and screw ourselves (unlike the FYPD). The open team should get some kind of compensation though to help the future new owner...maybe a few FYPD supplemental picks for the first few rounds to mirror those that team lost here?
I would say just skip his MLFAD picks entirely as an auction would be strange....salary shouldn;t be used in any auction as none of us planned for it and not sure other auction currency that could be used...what were you thinking on the auction?

I think Blackie's plan is too complex to do in the time frame and goes against what I am wanting for this team. Every new owner that comes in wants to put his own spin on the team, so if we have acquired players for this team, there still not "his players".
My idea for the auction had nothing to do with money, but more like our bidding process in free agency:
Drive bid 2012 FYPD 5th round pick for Drunk's MLFAD picks 1-8
Boulder raises bid to 2012 FYPD 4th round pick for Drunk's MLFAD picks 1-8
Drive bid a 2012 FYPD 3rd round pick for Drunk's MLFAD picks 1-8
And this could continue along this same way. I just wanted something failry simple and obviously quick. I am open to anything, and will make picks for this team if we don't come up with anything. They will just be a couple days late like we do in the FYPD.

I think your idea makes sense. There are two potential issues with it though. What if one team offers a 4th rounder and another team offers a 5th and a 10th? How do you determine the better offer?
And what if someone bids a 3rd for picks 1-8, but someone else offers a 4th for 1-5? Which offer is better?
It could work though if you set the parameters of how many picks will be auctioned and that the highest overall pick wins

You can just assign point values per round/pick and the highest total wins. Like;
Round 1 is 1500 points (15 rounds inversed with 1000 multiplier) Round 2 is 1400 points etc
Each selection within a round; Pick 1 is 200 points (20 teams pick) Pick 2 is 190 points etc
Add them up for bid total...for instance my 2.3 pick would be worth 1,580 points (1400 points for round 2 + 180 points for third pick in round)
Or some variation of the above...we use something vaguely similar to this for FA auctions in another fantasy league I am in

Might work actually....with a tweek or two.

Picks 1.11 thru 1.20 have less point value than pick 2.1 using this formula.
So maybe all picks in first half of round are same value and all picks in second half are same value, because outside of the actual top 10, it probably doesn't matter that much anyway.

Aye I just did this in a minute should have stated that...the math needs to be worked out but the concept is there and what i meant to show. Not worth going into it yet unless you (and others) agree with the concept.

If this team is not going to get quality prospects, either they go undrafted or not traded. You guys are not going to improve your teams at an unowned team and the rest of the leagues expense! Post the prospects offered for picks and let the rest of the league decide on what the best package is. Me and Blackie obviously disagree on this so I will not being doing anything with these picks.
